Bring your existing vibe-coded site to OhhWells

Yes. You can bring a site built with Claude Code, Cursor or Lovable into OhhWells: run one prompt, send it with your API key, then edit every page in our no-code editor. It takes under 10 minutes.

Built your website with an AI tool like Claude Code, Cursor or Lovable? You can bring it into OhhWells with one prompt and a few commands, then edit it in our no-code editor.

Time to complete: under 10 minutes.

Who it’s for: anyone who built a site with an AI tool and has access to its code, either on GitHub or on their computer. You don’t need to know how to code. This guide uses Claude Code, but the same prompt and steps work in any AI tool.

Before you start

You need three things:

  • Your website’s code. It can be in a GitHub repo or a folder on your computer. If you built your site in a browser tool like Lovable, Bolt or v0, export it to GitHub first, then open it in Claude Code or Cursor.
  • An AI coding tool, such as Claude Code or Cursor, open on that code.
  • An OhhWells account. You can sign up for free while the prompt runs in step 1.

What comes across, and what doesn’t

OhhWells focuses on one thing: managing your website’s content. All your pages come across, and you edit them in our no-code editor, almost like editing a document.

What comes across to OhhWells:

  • Every page, such as home, about, services and contact
  • Headlines, paragraphs and images
  • Brand colours and fonts
  • Your design and layout

What stays in your original code:

  • Payments and checkout
  • Shopping cart
  • Members login
  • Search, filters and other custom features

If your site relies on any of these, keep running them from your original code.

Step 1: Run the rebuild prompt

Open your AI tool on your website’s code. This is the same tool you built the site with. Copy and paste the prompt below, then start it.

It rebuilds your site to match how OhhWells is structured, so every headline, paragraph, image and brand colour becomes editable. Your design and content should look the same as before.

Rebuild this website so it works with OhhWells.

1. Read the OhhWells guide here: https://github.com/TheFlowOps-Eng/vibecoder-guidelines
Use the OhhWells starter repo as the reference structure: https://github.com/ohhwells/ohhwells-starter
2. Rebuild the website pages (home, about, services, contact) to follow the OhhWells structure in that guide, so every headline, paragraph, image and brand colour can be edited in OhhWells.
3. Keep the design and content looking the same as they do now.
4. Run the OhhWells check command (check/run.mjs in the guide) and fix anything it flags.
5. Stop before publishing. Then tell me the commands to send the site to my OhhWells account using my API key.

If your site has other pages, add them to the list in point 2.

Step 2: Get your API key

While the prompt runs, sign up for OhhWells and get your API key. Think of it as a password that lets your AI tool send the site to your account, so keep it private.

  1. Sign up or log in to OhhWells.
  2. Go to Site settings and open the Developer tab.
  3. Generate a key and copy it.

If you plan to put more than one website on OhhWells, save your API key somewhere safe, like a password manager.

Step 3: Send the site to your account

Once the step 1 prompt has finished, paste this second prompt into your AI tool.

Publish this site to my OhhWells account.

1. Run the OhhWells checker from the guide (check/run.mjs in https://github.com/TheFlowOps-Eng/vibecoder-guidelines) and fix anything it flags.
2. Run npm run build and make sure it passes.
3. Check that ohhwells.json exists in the project root with the site's name and a category, following 1-SETUP.md in the guide.
4. Log me in with npx ohhwells-deploy login. I'll paste my OhhWells API key myself when it asks. Never save the key in any file in this project.
5. Publish with npx ohhwells-deploy deploy, then tell me the URL it prints.

These commands do two things. They create your site at its own address, yoursitename.ohhwells.site. And they upload your website into the OhhWells app, ready for you to edit.

When the tool asks for your API key, paste it in yourself. Never paste it into the chat or save it in a file.

Step 4: Edit in OhhWells

That’s it. Your site is now in OhhWells. Open it in the editor and click any text or image to change it.

  • Type in the AI prompt box at the bottom of the editor to make changes with AI.
  • Use the dropdown bar at the top to move between pages.
  • Any new sections you create can be published straight away.

Step 5: Publish, free or on your own domain

Publishing on your ohhwells.site address is completely free. Tweak and experiment as much as you like.

When you’re ready to go live on your own domain name:

  1. Click Publish at the top right of the editor.
  2. Click Connect custom domain in the dropdown.
  3. Follow the steps to connect your domain. This is when the paid plan starts.

Common questions

Does it matter which AI tool I used? No. As long as you can get to your site’s code, on GitHub or on your computer, the same prompts work.

My site was built in Lovable, Bolt or v0. What do I do? Export your code to GitHub first. Then open it in Claude Code or Cursor and start from step 1.

The checker flagged a problem. What now? Your AI tool should fix it as part of the prompt. If it stops, ask it: “Fix what the OhhWells checker flagged, then run it again.”

Will my shop or members login still work? Not inside OhhWells. Those features stay in your original code. OhhWells manages your pages and content only.

I lost my API key. Go back to Site settings, open the Developer tab and generate a new one.
