The Lovable Alternative for Small Business Owners Who Want a Website, Not a Project

OhhWells versus Lovable

In short

Lovable is brilliant at turning a prompt into code. But a code project isn't a business — it doesn't take bookings, it doesn't show up on Google, and the meter runs every time you fix something. OhhWells gives you the same describe-it-and-watch-it-appear feeling, on a site that's built to be found, booked and paid for. Build and publish free.

If you're looking for a Lovable alternative, you've probably hit one of these

Lovable gave you a genuinely magical first hour. Then, usually, one of these:

  • The first prompt produced something that looked incredible. The next twenty were you trying to fix one thing, watching two others break — and every attempt cost credits whether it worked or not.
  • Your site is live, and completely invisible on Google. Nobody warned you that the page search engines see is essentially blank. (Lovable renders client-side, has no native CMS, and limited metadata control — there is an entire cottage industry of tools that exist only to bolt SEO onto Lovable sites.)
  • You wanted a booking button. What you got was a conversation about Stripe keys, a Supabase database, and auth logic.
  • You asked for one simple thing and it built you five — extra components, extra flows, extra abstraction you never asked for and now can't remove without breaking it.
  • The $25 plan turned into a $60–80 month once hosting, AI usage and the credits you burned on debugging were counted.
  • You ran out of credits mid-fix, with a half-broken site live.

None of that is you being bad at it. It's that you and Lovable wanted different things.

Where each one really pulls ahead

Lovable is not a bad tool. It's a superb tool pointed at a different job. A fair comparison says so.

Raw creative range. This is Lovable's home turf and it isn't close. It'll build you a dashboard, a marketplace, an internal tool, a two-sided app with logins and a database — things OhhWells has no intention of building. If what's in your head is genuinely an application, Lovable is one of the best ways in the world to get a first version of it. OhhWells does one shape of thing: a beautiful, on-brand site for a service business that needs to get booked. We're narrower on purpose.

Being found. Here's the gap nobody mentions until you're three weeks in and getting no traffic. Lovable sites are rendered in the browser, which means the version Google arrives at is close to empty. There's no native CMS and limited control over metadata. It's fixable — with prerendering services, third-party bolt-ons, or a rebuild — but you're solving a problem you didn't know you'd bought. OhhWells pages are built to be crawled and indexed on day one. For a small business, invisible and beautiful is just invisible.

Getting booked. Lovable can build a booking flow, in the same sense that a hardware shop can sell you a shed: all the parts are there. You'll wire Stripe, stand up a database, handle auth, and own it forever. OhhWells includes native booking management on every plan, tested, in the box. If bookings are how you make money, this is the whole argument.

Knowing if it works. Lovable will build you whatever you describe — including a page that converts nobody. It has no opinion about your call-to-action, your mobile experience, or the order of your homepage, because it isn't built to. The Conversion Score is exactly that missing opinion: 30 checks, before you publish, in plain language. Lovable answers can you build it. That's a different question from will it work.

The meter. This is the one people feel most. Lovable charges per prompt, so the credits drain fastest exactly when things are going worst — a bad afternoon of debugging can cost more than a good week of building, and the free tier's 5 credits a day disappear in two or three real attempts. OhhWells is a flat monthly price. Ask a hundred questions. Change your mind eleven times. The bill doesn't move.

Where Lovable is the better call. If you're building an actual product — an app with user accounts, a database, custom logic, something that isn't a website — take Lovable. Same if you're a technical founder who wants the code, or you're prototyping an idea you'll hand to a developer. OhhWells trades that entire universe away to be excellent at one thing: getting a small service business beautifully online and booked. That's only the right trade if that's what you actually need.

Switching from Lovable is simpler than you think

Honestly? Most people don't "switch" from Lovable — they abandon a half-finished project and feel bad about it. You don't need to feel bad about it. Here's the real version.

There's no automated import — you send us the link to what you've built, and our team rebuilds it under OhhWells. Your copy, images, and structure carry across, and if you want to keep the code, it's yours — export it to GitHub and take it anywhere. Nothing here traps you. What gets rebuilt is the site itself, on a foundation designed to be indexed and to take bookings, so you're not carrying the SEO problem across with you. Your domain connects in a few minutes on a paid plan.

The nice part: because the build is free and there's no meter, you can have your new site sitting alongside the old one, look at both, and only then decide. No countdown, no credits ticking while you think.

What you actually pay each month

Lovable's plan price and Lovable's bill are two different numbers, and it's worth being precise about why. Credits are consumed per prompt, so cost tracks how much trouble you have, not how much you build. On top of the subscription there's a second layer — Cloud (hosting, storage, bandwidth, database) and AI usage inside your live app — billed separately. Reviews through 2026 consistently put the real cost of a shipped Lovable app at roughly 2–3x the sticker.

(On the live page this is a monthly/annual toggle, defaulted to annual.)

PlanLovable (USD per mo)OhhWells (USD per mo)
FreeFree — 5 credits/day, 30/mo cap; lovable.dev subdomainFree — publish on a subdomain, full editor + Conversion Score, no meter
EntryPro — $25 monthly ($21 annual), 100 creditsStarter — $29 monthly / $24 annual
MidBusiness — $50 monthly ($42 annual), 100 credits + SSO/securityGrowing — $59 monthly / $49 annual
TopEnterprise — customEstablished — $99 monthly / $79 annual

Then add what Lovable bills separately: Cloud hosting and runtime AI usage, credit top-ups when you run dry mid-fix, and whatever an SEO bolt-on costs you once you discover you need one. With OhhWells, bookings and the Conversion Score are on every tier, and you can publish free before you pay a cent.

"But what about…"

I've already built half of it in Lovable. Then you've done the useful part — you know what you want. Bring the copy and the images across and rebuild it free, in parallel. And keep the Lovable project; nobody's asking you to delete anything.

Isn't OhhWells just less powerful? Yes — deliberately, and only in the directions you probably don't need. Lovable can build almost anything. OhhWells builds one thing properly. If you need almost anything, we'll tell you to stay.

What if I outgrow it? If you're heading toward a real application — user accounts, custom logic, a product rather than a site — we'll say so honestly. That's Lovable's job, not ours.

FAQs

If you want a site rather than an app — beautiful, findable on Google, taking bookings on day one — OhhWells is built for exactly that. Lovable is the better choice if you're building an application.
Lovable renders pages in the browser, so search engines often arrive at what's effectively an empty page — and there's no native CMS or full metadata control to fix it cleanly. Workarounds exist; a site built to be indexed from the start doesn't need them.
It can build a booking flow, but you're assembling it — payments, database, auth — and maintaining it. OhhWells includes native booking management on every plan.
Compare real cost, not sticker. Lovable's $25 plan sits on top of separate Cloud and AI billing plus credit top-ups, and reviews put shipped apps at 2–3x the plan price. OhhWells is flat, with bookings and the Conversion Score included on every tier.
No. Flat monthly. Debugging is free, changing your mind is free, and there's no meter running while you think.
A built-in audit that checks your site against 30 factors across 6 dimensions — call-to-action, mobile experience, page structure and more — and tells you what to fix before you publish. It's the single biggest reason people choose OhhWells.
Yes — service and booking businesses are exactly who it's built for, from the templates to the native bookings.
